OMEDEC, a small company specializing in press-cutting, advanced high-precision cutting, press stamping, and efficient assembly services, delivers top-quality solutions. With approximately 20 employees, they embarked on a journey to enhance employee wellbeing and overall work environment by implementing their first robotic palletizing solution powered by D:PLOY.

Using OnRobot’s D:PLOY software to implement robotic palletizing kickstarted OMEDEC's journey to enhance its work environment through automation. With quick training from OnRobot, UIMM, the partner company responsible for the integration, installed the solution in less than a day, showcasing its user-friendliness. This sets a clear path forward for OMEDEC's automation efforts.

Automation accessible for all; The Challenge

At OMEDEC, the primary challenge was implementing an automation solution that was user-friendly and accessible to all staff to reduce the risk of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSD) caused by repetitive tasks. Ensuring the well-being of the employees and preventing turnover due to injuries was the top priority for OMEDEC. They needed a robotic solution that required minimal technical skills and could be easily operated by everyone when production requirements changed. Additionally, the workshop's limited space required a compact solution that allowed staff to work safely alongside the palletizer without safety barriers.

“We are committed to preventing injuries and ensuring the well-being of our staff,” said Florent Lauthier, Manager of Continuous Improvement and Maintenance at OMEDEC. “This involves finding automation solutions that everyone can use effectively to minimize the risk of MSD.”

Seamless Integration and Enhanced Productivity; The Solution

Recognizing the importance of scalability and ease of use, they sought alternatives to traditional robotic automation.  At a networking event, Fanuc France and UIMM introduced OMEDEC to OnRobot's D:PLOY platform. The features of same-day installation and fast redeployment, along with the platform´s user-friendliness, greatly impressed OMEDEC. As a result, they decided to implement a palletizing application using D:PLOY software, a VGP20 gripper, and a FANUC CRX20IAL.

With assistance from UIMM and the ease of integrating D:PLOY, the implementation process was swift. After just half a day of training, UIMM managed to get the palletizing application up and running in less than a day. The new system has since boosted productivity by 25-30%.

“ The implementation of D:PLOY has enabled OMEDEC's staff to use the system for palletizing without requiring extensive technical knowledge. This has saved them both time and costs that would typically be associated with more complex automation requiring constant support," explained Florent.

“The implementation was smooth and fast, without the need for extensive safety barriers. This collaborative application fits seamlessly into our existing operations,” added Florent.

Conclusion

Deploying D:PLOY for robotic palletizing marks OMEDEC's commitment to enhancing its work environment. With swift installation and easy operation, it addresses safety concerns and has boosted productivity by 25-30%. OMEDEC plans to replicate its success across other factory sections.
