Choosing screwdriving automation that grows with your production

Precise fastening. Simpler deployment. Room to grow.

Estimated reading time: 5 minutes

Many screwdriving automation projects become more complicated than they need to be.

Traditional solutions often require multiple components, external controllers, pneumatic infrastructure, and significant engineering resources.

The OnRobot Screwdriver was designed to simplify deployment while maintaining industrial-grade fastening quality.

Precise Torque Control and Quality Monitoring

The electric Screwdriver provides programmable torque control from 0.15–5 Nm, enabling precise tightening across a wide range of screw sizes and applications.

From delicate electronics assembly to larger industrial fastening operations, manufacturers can achieve consistent fastening quality across diverse production environments.

Built-in monitoring helps detect fastening errors such as stripped, missing, or misaligned screws before they become quality issues.

Flexible Screw Compatibility

Modern production environments rarely operate with a single screw type.

The OnRobot Screwdriver supports magnetic screws ranging from M1.6 to M6, including metric, imperial, and self-tapping screws for aluminum and plastic applications.

This flexibility allows manufacturers to automate a wide range of assembly processes without changing tools, making it suitable for both dedicated production lines and high-mix manufacturing environments.

One tool. A wide range of assembly processes.

Faster Deployment Through Integrated Design

An embedded linear axis automatically performs the tightening motion, eliminating the need for additional programming and reducing integration effort.

The result is faster deployment, simpler programming, and more reliable cycle execution.

Automation That Grows with Your Production

One of the most overlooked factors in assembly automation is scalability.

Manufacturers need solutions that not only solve today's challenges but can also adapt to future production requirements.

From one process to multiple products

At OnRobot's own manufacturing facility, robotic screwdriving was initially deployed to automate the assembly of Quick Changers used across multiple product families.

The production cell combines a UR5e cobot, an OnRobot Screwdriver, and dual Screwfeeders handling both M3 and M6 screws, creating a flexible assembly platform that integrates seamlessly into existing production workflows.

What began with Quick Changer assembly on the 2FG7, 3FG15, and VGC10 grippers quickly demonstrated its value. The application was expanded to additional products, including the RG2 and RG6 grippers, printed circuit board assemblies on the VGC10, and new subassembly operations. Additional automation projects continue to be added as production requirements evolve.

What started as a single automated assembly process has evolved into a scalable production platform supporting multiple products and subassemblies throughout OnRobot's manufacturing operation.

By automating repetitive fastening tasks, OnRobot increased production capacity, improved workplace ergonomics, and enabled employees to focus on more complex and value-adding activities.

The ability to expand the application over time proved just as valuable as the initial productivity gains.

Proven Reliability Through Continuous Use

Using our own automation in production provides valuable insight into long-term product performance.

Combined with extensive testing and continuous product improvements, this experience has strengthened confidence in the reliability of the OnRobot Screwdriver platform.

That confidence is reflected in our expanded warranty coverage.

For manufacturers investing in automation, warranty coverage is more than a policy. It reflects the confidence a manufacturer has in its products and the testing behind them.

Build Assembly Automation That Scales

Manufacturers no longer need to choose between quality and productivity.

With precise torque control, intelligent process monitoring, and scalable automation platforms, screwdriving automation can deliver consistent fastening quality while supporting future production growth.

The OnRobot Screwdriver enables manufacturers to reduce fastening errors, simplify deployment, improve assembly consistency, and scale automation across multiple applications.

The question is no longer: “Can screwdriving be automated?”

It's:

“How do you select a screwdriving solution that can scale with your production needs?”

And that's exactly what modern fastening automation is designed to deliver.
